‘Facebook master’ finally caught

Mohammad Anwar Hossain, is a printing press employee in Station Road area of ​​Sadar Upazila of Gaibandha district. Although, by profession a printing press worker, he got the title of 'Facebook Master' by solving the issues regarding IDs on social media including Facebook. And using this opportunity, this young man has embarked on a novel fraud. He so far has deceiving 771 women by opening Facebook IDs and WhatsApp accounts in the name of police officer, sometimes a political leader, sometimes a minister, or some other popular and discussed people.

Recently, he was caught in the police net after opening a Facebook ID and WhatsApp account after the name of Mohammad Mohsin, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tejgaon police station in the capital. OC Mohsin himself filed a case under the Digital Security Act as a plaintiff. Anwar was arrested on Friday from a company called Islam Printing Press at Gaibandha Station Road, Dash Bekari Mor.

DMP's Joint Commissioner (Crime) Liton Kumar Saha conveyed this information at a press conference at DMP Media Center in the capital on Saturday, January 27.

He said, 'Anwar only studied up to the fifth grade, but gradually became experienced by learning about various technologies including Facebook from the Internet. He was also called Facebook Master as he used to solve the Facebook ID related issues of many locals. And using this experience, he used to open Facebook IDs with the same name of various important people of the state, ministers, police officers, popular people and so on. After that he used to target women and communicate with them. After that, he gradually developed a love relationship with them and took money along with offensive photos.'

The Joint Commissioner of DMP also said that after the arrest of Anwar, Facebook IDs in the names of President, Minister of State for Power, Energy and Minerals Nasrul Hamid, Tejgaon police station OC Mohammad Mohsin, actor Shanto Khan, actor and model Abdun Noor Sajal, acting chairman of BNP Tarek Rahman were found on his computer and mobile phone. Some of these IDs are still active while some were disabled.

He said that sometimes Anwar cheated by posing as an OC, sometimes as an actor, sometimes as a public representative. By opening a fake ID, he used to talk to more than 700 women so far. Students, housewives, expatriates, models were all in this list. After talking on Messenger, he used to talk to them on WhatsApp. Even if he talked, he would not come on video call with anyone.
If anyone wanted to see him or suspected, Anwar immediately blocked them. He used to talk offensively with girls. He also exchanged pictures with some of them. He also demanded money from some of them.
